Testimonials

"With this e-mail we want to thank you for the wonderful trip through Marocco that you gave us. You were really great as a guide in all the places we stayed. You also managed the trip very well, everything went on schedule. We know it is not an easy task to have the responsibility for 19 people. You acted confident and we admired that in you."

"I want really thank you for the beautiful holiday in Marocco. I have beautiful memories to the country and people. Splendid landscape. Really many contrasts. I gladly would return one more time!

"Jamal, thank you so much for arranging this beautiful trip for us. Rachid, our guide, was lovely, very friendly and informative. He knew everything about the valley and the mountains. Thanks again, we'll never forget it. Vielen dank! Tschus!"

"My wife and I would like to thank you for taking such good care of us during our Toubkal climb. The whole trek was really well organised and we enjoyed every minute! We can tell you grew there and know the area really well. You were able to tell us lots of stories which made the trek very enjoyable. Abdul is a fantastic cook! We especially enjoyed his tajines. All cooked with fresh ingredients, very healthy and really tasty, We loved every minute of our vacation in Morocco and we have to tell you the Toubkal trek was the best part of our 3 week stay! We have recommended you to all of our friends at home and after showing our pictures they are eager to go to Morocco too! We will be back! Thanks again for a great trip."

"I have just returned from a very enjoyable trek in the Atlas Mountains. I contacted Jamal through his website and he arranged the whole trek from top to bottom. From the transfer to his guesthouse in Imlil, to the guide, the cook and the mules. The guesthouse is absolutely amazing. The view from the balcony on the whole mountain valley is terrific!!! During the trek our guide, muleteer and cook were all charming and helpful. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this trek and I thank Jamal for arranging this all for me!"

On the road, towards douar Aït Souka, an ochre colored house appears in the distance. Situated in good in harmony with the local colours of the mountains and the nuances of green of the flora and the fruit trees around it. It´s what my lodging is all about!

The guest house has double rooms, rooms with multiple beds, showers and medical facilities. The house was built in a tradional way by using local materials like stones, wood and rose trees. There will be a warm welcome.

The traditional architecture of the house will nourish your spirit and will let you dream of another adventure in the mountains of the High Atlas. A calm, quiet and inviting space, my guest house is the place to stay for an authentic High Atlas experience.

Exploring the Moroccan desert

Posté le 22.07.2007 par atlasadventure
After the High Atlas Mountain range lays a mysterious, surreal and stunning landscape. This is the heart of old Morocco - the pre Sahara desert. It's like stepping back in time into an all forgotten world; a world of fortified villages, Berber castles (Kasbahs) and abandoned Foreign Legion outposts. These were all once major stop off points on the camel routes between Marrakech and the great trading capitals of the Sahara. The Sahara region is where you'll find one of the most diverse and dramatic landscapes in Morocco.

The Sahara can be an inspirational experience at night, with the air being crisp, clean and clear, the stars being so close you can almost touch them and a silence that is deafening.

Trekking & Walking in the Atlas Mountains

Posté le 22.07.2007 par atlasadventure
Trekking is one of the very best things Morocco has to offer. All of our treks travel to remote, off the beaten track areas, and to traditional Berber villages populated by friendly local people living a life that’s changed little over hundreds of years. If you want to trek in Morocco during the summer, head for the High Atlas to climb either Toubkal (4167m) North Africa’s highest peak, or Jebel Mgoun (4071m) North Africa’s second, or both. In the winter we head further south to walk in the Anti-Atlas or Jebel Saghro ranges.

Day 1
You start the walk by climbing through orchards and past a stream to the shrine of Chamharouch (2300m). There you will stop for tea before continuing to walk uphill to the luncheon spot (2700m) by the stream at the Imouzer Waterfalls.
In the afternoon you will continue walking uphill along the stream to the refuge of Neltner (3207m), where you will have dinner and stay overnight (6hrs trekking).

Day 2
After an early breakfast you will climb progressively up the steep valley to the Toubkal peak (4165m), which is the highest peak in north Africa. The view is fantastic! Stop for small picnic at the top and enjoy the views. Then walk downhill back to the refuge for a well earned lunch! In the afternoon it’s time to relax. (6hrs trekking).

Day 3
Walk downhill on the same trail via Chamharouch and then to the beautiful village of Armed (2000m), located at the foot of Toubkal. Stop for mint tea and a picnic lunch in a berber house. Then continue on a lovely walk through walnut and cherry trees down to Imlil.
